The Nokia E66 is still new to me, I haven't explored it all, but I can highlight 12 very cool features that made it a very good phone for me.
- It is a very fast phone, try accessing a huge contact list on an E60, or on a windows mobile phone, and see the difference for your self.
- It can synch with Echange Server directly. Although the experience with email is not as good as with a windows mobile phone
- If I am doing anything on the phone while I am in a call, like trying to save a phone number. I can disconnect the call using the slide action, without risking to lose my work if I press the call end key after the call is ended by the other party.
- It comes with a free dictionary. it works locally, without network connection, and you can install additional languages.
- Nokia WidSets, a very cool collection of internet applications, totally free. there are hundreds of these widgets, eplore for yourself.
- GPS with maps that really work, without consuming all your power, or slowing the device. And if you buy the subscription, I can take you driving or walking to where you want to go.
- I can store my messages on the memory card, so there is no hassle in restoring the messages if I change the device later.
- The Advanced Call Manager is licensed for this phone. So now I can have my own answering machine on the phone, with a caller white and black lists.
- My Exchange Admin required me to luck the phone by a password, and the E66 can be configured to lock automatically after 10 minutes idle time. So if I want to make a call after 5 minutes, I don't have to enter the code again. If you use a windows mobile phone, you will know why I like this feature.
- I can create as many alarms as I wish. This is much better that the single alarm in the my previous E60, and only 3 alarms in the windows mobile.
- Usefull shortcuts, for example, Toggle bluetooth by a long press on *, toggle silent/general profiles by a long press on #. in addition to the 6 other shortcuts on the contacts, messaging, and calendar buttons.
- You can find in it whatever you can find in more-expensive phones, like all connectivity options, Radio, A 3.2 MP camera with auto-focus, and full featured office and multimedia applications.
My Experience with the Nokia E66 is not totally positive. I had two serious negative issues with it.
- When I connected the E66 to my laptob in USB mode, the memory card got locked. People having the same error reported that it is caused by the antivirus on their laptop. the only effective solution I found is to reboot the device.
- Exchange Emails do not display properly on the E66. I believe Microsoft and Nokia are working actively to solve this issue.
After All, I really like the phone. so Thanks to Ammar for proposing the idea, and for Mannourti who gave it to me as gift.
